City of Nova Sintra, September 29, 2023 - At the Brava Ministry of Education Delegation, an important meeting took place that marked a significant step towards the development of sport on the island. The initiative was promoted by the Delegation of the Ministry of Education at the request of the Department of Education and Sports of the Brava City Council, with the aim of carrying out a diagnostic survey of sport in the region and drawing up an action plan for its promotion in Schools and Communities braves.

The meeting was attended by the Councilor for Sports of the Brava City Council, Mário Jorge Soares Rodriguez, the Delegate of the Ministry of Education of Brava, Vergílio Lopes Pires, the Pedagogical Coordinator of the 1st Cycle at the Delegation, Madueno Pires Carlos Pina, and the Physical Education Teachers in the Municipality, namely João Paulo Teixeira, Eurico de Barros, Etson Martins and Esmael De Jesus Tavares.

In addition to these local representatives, Dr. Assunção, a graduate in Social Action and with a vast experience of 33 years in sports, with a main focus on Handball, was also present. It represents a partnership between the Municipal Councils of Brava and Oeiras, in Portugal, which aims to enrich sports on the island.

During the meeting, several points were discussed, including the current situation of sport in Brava, challenges faced, available resources and opportunities for improvement. The main focus was the development of a comprehensive action plan aimed at promoting sport in schools and communities in Brava.

Participants highlighted the importance of involving civil society, parents and/or guardians and other interested parties in the process of implementing this project. Cooperation between local institutions and the international partnership with Oeiras, Portugal, promises to bring new perspectives and opportunities for the development of sport on the island.

This meeting represents a significant milestone in the joint effort to elevate sport in Brava, providing new generations with opportunities to practice sports and promoting a more active and healthy lifestyle.
